The Port Management Office (PMO) of Davao considers Sasa Wharf as its baseport. PMO-Davao is situated on the southeastern coast of the Mindanao Island and is known as the most progressive conduit of trade and tourism in Southern Philippines and the largest market of the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP_EAGA). Currently, it wields regulatory control over 18 private ports and several municipal ports in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental. It also operates a terminal port in Mati, Davao Oriental.

Sasa Wharf is the principal domestic and international seaport for most passengers and commodities of the Davao Region (Region-XI) and is strategically located 10 kms. north of downtown Davao City. Known as the most active port in Southern Mindanao, it links the Davao Region to Hongkong, China, Singapore, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

Sasa Wharf lies between latitude 7° 05’N and longitude 125° 35’E and is bounded in the east by the natural islands of Samal and Talikud.
