GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

This Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) port, more often called as PEO Wharf, is located in Caliclic, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCos). The structure was constructed in the early 80's by the Davao del Norte Provincial Engineer's Office (PEO) which has jurisdiction over IGaCos.

The port's operation and maintenance continue to be under the PEO of Davao del Norte province.

It is a vital link of the Island as it provides alternate route for Ro-Ro vessels ferrying passengers and commodities coming from Km. 10, Barangay Sasa which the commuting public refer to as the Mae Wess Ferry Landing in Davao City.

NAVIGATIONAL APPROACH

A vessel approaches the Caliclic Ferry Landing through the Davao Gulf. The gulf provides both access within the Pakiputan Strait as well as exit channel for vessels departing from the area towards the open seas.

ENTRANCE CHANNEL

Entrance to the Caliclic Wharf is through the Pakiputan Strait, the body of water between the Davao City mainland and the relatively smaller Samal Island.

FACILITIES AND FEATURES

  • 10 meter-wide improvised roro ramp facility
  • 7 meter-wide causeway and enclosed beach facility
