GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

Maco Port is located along the coast of Davao Gulf. It was constructed on September 28, 2004 by the Philippine Ports Authority in response to the clamor of its local government for a port which could cater to Maco without having to pass through the bigger ports in Tagum or Davao City. Currently, it is being actively used as an alternative port in the export of wood chips to Japan which will be converted to paper.

NAVIGATIONAL APPROACH

There is no other plausible route in approaching the Maco but through the Davao Gulf much like entry to Tagum City or Davao City ports, except that it is located a little farther north.

ENTRANCE CHANNEL

Entrance and exit from the Maco Pier is through the wide Davao Gulf which embraces the bodies of oceans surrounding Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte and Compostela Province.

ACHORAGE

No designated anchorage.
