Peñaplata Pier is located in the southwestern part of Samal Island and like the other ports in the Island, it was constructed in 1960 with wooden landing platform and concrete pile. It has since been renovated through a fund provided for by the Department of Transportation and Communication in 2002 and is now a fully concreted structure.
NAVIGATIONAL APPROACH
Peñaplata is reachable through the Pakiputan Strait, the channel in between Davao City and Samal Island.
ENTRANCE CHANNEL
Vessels plying Peñaplata route enter the Pakiputan Strait which is in between Davao City and Samal Island.
ACHORAGE
No designated anchorage.
FACILITIES AND FEATURES
- 30m x 8m concrete deck on piers adjoined by approximately 150m concrete causeway
- Newly - constructed office and mini warehouse and comfort rooms
PORT SERVICES / STATISTICS
The port has been inactive/non-operational for public use due to the introduction of buses plying through the Ro-Ro link in Babak Wharf.
