PORT PROFILE

The Port of General Santos, also known as the Makar Wharf lies at the end of Sarangani Bay in the southern coast of Mindanao.  It is located at latitude 06° 06’ North and 125° 90’ longitude East and about two (2) kilometers northeast of General Santos City.

The Port embraces all that portion of Sarangani Bay bounded by an imaginary line extending across the Bay from Tampuan Point to Sumpang Point.  This includes all foreshore areas and delineated port area of the Makar Wharf.

The port is a main conduit of people, trade and commerce in the SOCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos) areas. Its inherent well-guarded deep bay waters and the virtual absence of typhoons make the port an excellent harbor and haven for shipping lines.

Situated in the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, General Santos' Makar Wharf prides itself as the second most active port in Southern Mindanao. It serves as the consolidation hub of SOCKSARGEN area's produce. It facilitates the Gensan-Bitung (Malaysia) route as part of its BIMP_EAGA cooperation and maintains progressive maritime business with the leading domestic and foreign destinations.
